Hungaria Guesthouse

UPDATE: Hungaria Guesthouse SUCKS

Hungaria Guesthouse” Hostel is the first and the only hostel I’ve stayed at in Budapest, Hungary.

We found this hostel on our first train trip around Europe( The InterRail Adventure), back in 2006.  Budapest was the first stop. Keleti train station.

Here is also where we first found out about the Tourist Information Desk.  We picked Hungaria GuestHouse from a long list of hostels. The guy at the desk called the hostel and we were all set.

We booked for 2nights, only 12Euros per night. read more

Visit Budapest in 2 days

The first stop of my  “InterRail adventure” was Budapest, the capital of Hungary.  An amazing city.

We got off the train(  Keleti train station ), we went to the “Tourist Information” desk and booked for two nights at Hungaria GuestHouse hostel, just a few blocks from the train station.  It was the perfect hostel: clean, quiet, friendly staff and only 12.5 Euros per night.

Two days are barely enough to see Budapest.  To get the best experience here’s my Budapest Sightseeing Guide: read more

Tourist Information Desk

Accommodation info, city maps, prices, directions, everything that a tourist needs when he/she gets to a new city,  the Tourist Information Desk is the place to ask.

Whatever city your in(touristic city, capital), you can find a Tourist Information Desk in the train station, the airport or the touristic center.

Kingdom of Discovery rides

The biggest adrenaline rush you can get in Kingdom of Discovery Theme Park is by taking a ride in the Montagne Russe. It is pretty big, it’s very fast(maybe too fast) and it’s way bumpy and rigid …  If you’re into it, you must try it at least one time.

Kingdom of Discovery

Kingdom of Discovery Park lays on a 470.000 square meters property and it’s made up of six theme blocks:

Although I lived in the Park for a month, I never seen or paid for a ticket. But today I came across this guy’s blog, that visited Kingdom of Discovery in 2006.  He has some nice pics there, including one with the tickets:

At that time, the price for a ticket was 160RMB.   You can check out his Kingdom of Discovery experience here.

Besides all the rides and fun stuff that is available in the park all day long, there are a few special shows like “The Water Stage Show”, “The stunt show”, “The Parade”, “The Night Show” and “Romeo and Juliet”.

Kingdom of Discovery – The Stunt Show

One of the main attractions in Kingdom of Discovery park is the Stunt Show.

It is called “The Great Diamond Heist”.

The show runs four times a day, everyday(except Tuesdays),  the first one starts at 11.00a.m.  and the last one at 4.30pm. (I hope I remember the hours right). read more

What surprised me in China

I lived one month in China, near Dalian(in the Kingdom of Discovery Theme Park, 40min by train  from Dalian).

I’ve witnessed  a lot of stuff that surprised me, amused me, disgusted or scared me.

These are the top things that I remember:

  1. The Chinese are absolutely crazy about white people. This is the main reason that 90% of the Kingdom of Discovery’s entertainers are white – to attract Chinese people. And it works perfectly. I  was asked lots of times by the locals to take a picture with them. And I am not that good looking :)  .  The usual formula you’ll hear is “Can I make a take a picture with you?“.  Very, very funny :))).  This can happen anywhere … on the beach, on the street, in a restaurant. It makes you feel good about yourself. read more
